Bold As Love
Bold As Love was written by Jimi Hendrix and featured on his album 'Axis: Bold As Love' (1967). The song is a heavily chord driven piece, featuring many chord changes and progressions all embellished with Hendrix's signature flare. Throw into the mix a transcendent guitar solo and you've conjured inspiration for aspiring guitars players, who after 50 years are still picking apart and analysing the song.
Bold As Love has been covered countless times since its release, but the one version that garners much deserved attention is John Mayers homage included on his 2006 album Continuum. Mayers rendition breathes modern life into the Hendrix classic. It is a rite of passage to learn this song if you are into Strat style guitar playing. It is a masterclass in chordal embellishment and dynamic guitar playing.
